Hi!
Some of you already know my name is Kamea. It’s Polynesian, to celebrate my parents’ marriage in Bora Bora!๏ฟผ Although, people tend to want to change the name with small variations to fit it into their language. But the Italian way? Oh, this is quite a story!
“Oh, what’s your name, sweetheart?” asked a tall Italian woman in a navy blue jacket and red leggings. She carried a purse of fine leather, and she had her hair tucked into a tight, neat, blonde bun. She had been talking to my dad, and apparently she only noticed me now.
“Kamea,” I said to her, smiling.
“Sorry?” she asked.
“Ka-may-a.” I told her
“Kamilla?” she asked.
“It’s actually Ka-may-a. There isn’t an L.” I said, twirling my hair around my index finger.
“That’s what I said dear. Kamilla,” she said. “That’s correct, right?”
“Uh… sure,” I said. “You can call me that.
This happens a lot, from kids to elders, from dogs to cats, well, I guess animals have an excuse to not be able to pronounce my name.
One of my friends once guessed my name was Hindi ๐ฎ๐ณ!
Okay. That’s it for this wacky name-calling story. Hope you enjoyed!
